DMK's attitude towards BJP and the end of Congress era - 29-Jul-2022

The core supporters of
DMK - mainly religious minorities and periyarists - must be shocked to see the change in the attitude and the hospitality given by DMK and its leader MK Stalin to PM Modi during the Chennai Chess Olympiad 2022. But it's not surprising to the many Tamil nationalists, NTK cadres, and neutral political analysts. The DMK was expected to gradually shift its support to the BJP, but it happened so early after 15 months of winning the TN state elections. There will be no more surprises if the DMK joins forces with the BJP in the upcoming LS elections in 2024.

This was even predicted by the famous Tamil cartoonist Bala after the TN state elections last year. In one of his tweets, he said, "DMK will take the sideline and show a soft corner towards BJP. The so-called DMK supportive progressive front liners will keep mum."

Also, journalist and political analyst Savukku Sankar has mentioned in his many interviews that the BJP's only claim to the DMK is to leave the Congress party alone without making an ally in the upcoming LS elections. Because the TN Congress is a party with no cadres but plenty of leaders. Until now, Congress' journey has been carried out by either of the Dravidian parties, DMK or ADMK.

Congress does not have the vote bank in TN to win at least a single MP seat. So, the DMK will be forced by the BJP to abandon the Congress and not form an alliance to end the Congress era in India. The ADMK party, already a known pet of the BJP, would not have the courage to add Congress as their ally against their big boss's wishes.

So, the 2024 LS elections are a survival battle for Congress and decide the fate of its future.
